water and a laid-back atmosphere."
After spending all day out in the sand, or wading in the surf, you're
definitely going to work up an appetite. Luckily, the available restaurants
offer a wide variety of cuisines that are sure to satisfy even the pickiest
of eaters. TJ's Italian Café and House of Sweets serves authentic
Italian food and desserts to die for. And if you're really in the mood
for a relaxing vacation, they even offer beach, room and poolside service-so
you don't have to miss out on any sunbathing or surfing. Don't be dissuaded
by a simple title like The Pub-though restaurant offers you a laid-back,

of night life, then come down to Jimmy Guana's for live entertainment
and a tiki bar.
Finding local shopping is definitely not an issue. International Plaza
and Bay Street offers over 200 stores and restaurants. John's Pass Village
and Boardwalk is not only for shopping, but also dining, festivals and
water sports-a great way to spend a whole day with the family. The Pier
is an enormous shopping center with everything; charter boats, galleries,
boutiques, etc.
There are many attractions in the Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores area,
good for an entire family or for just a couple. The historic sites of
Heritage Village will take you back 150 years, with performances, reenactments
and trails. Collect sea sponges at Tarpon Springs, or visit the Lowry
Park Zoo, voted #1 Family Friendly Zoo by Child Magazine. The hundred-year
old Sunken Gardens offers some of the eldest tropical plant specimens
in the region. Or make the drive to Busch Gardens amusement park in Tampa,
for rides, restaurants, live shows and games.
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium has touch tanks, as well as many exhibits,
but there is one in particular that has captured the hearts of so many
visitors: Winter, a dolphin that was rescued from a crab trap line. Her
story is bittersweet; while she lost her entire tail, the CMA was able
to produce for her a prosthetic sleeve to be used as her tail. She was
featured on NBC Today Show, BBC and CNN, and is a very inspiring creature
to see.
