Forget about the Winter Blues, Celebrate with the Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival This Weekend


We're sorry to hear about the continuing winter storms, snow accumulations and cold temperatures that are in the forecast for this week and weekend in many areas of the nation. Not to rub it in, but we don't really suffer from the winter blues in Florida. Our blues come in the form of sparkling clear blue waters, blue skies, and Blues music festivals.

The month of February is a wonderful time to be vacationing on Florida's Gulf Coast. In addition to its usual stunning beaches and pristine shorelines, the local and regional events abound giving you and your family plenty of things to do during your time on the coast. You may be here with a loved one indulging in a romantic getaway this Valentine's Day holiday or spending the weekend at the Florida State Fair, which wraps up this Monday.

No matter your personal reasons for being here, we have a couple more events you may want to add to your weekend agenda. Read on to find out the details.

3rd Annual Blues Walk on Cleveland Street in Downtown Clearwater
This Friday, February 14 kicks off the Clearwater Sea-Blues weekend with the 3rd Annual Blues Walk in downtown Clearwater. Cleveland Street is the setting for this evening's event. The Blues Walk runs from 6:30-10p.m. and is a restaurant crawl that offers Sea-Blues themed dinner and drink specials all night at various downtown restaurants combined with plenty of live Blues music, of course. There are also a ton of prizes and giveaways happening that evening, so don't miss out.

Located on the bay at beautiful Coachman Park overlooking the stunning Clearwater Harbor Marina, The Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival offers a weekend packed with music that any blues aficionado would appreciate. A nice complement to the fabulous music is the mouthwatering fare. Bring your appetite for some of your seafood favorites, whether it's conch fritters or she-crab soup. The festival runs from Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 17.

The Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival kicks off with the Blues Walk on Friday from 6:30-10p.m. The Cleveland Street District and its local businesses offer lives blues musicians as well as themed specials centered around the festival. Be sure to fill out the comment cards at each of the locations you visit for a chance to win 2 VIP passes and a Meet & Greet with your favorite Sea-Blues artists. Some of the restaurants featuring live music that evening include the Capitol Beer House, The Sage, Chiang Mai, Street Side Cafe and live music right on Cleveland Street.

Concert at Coachman Park in ClearwaterGates open on Saturday at noon with performances beginning around 12:45p.m. Performers slated for this day include Grammy-award-winning Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Sugar Blue, The Lee Boys, Hamilton Loomis and Sandy Atkinson. Gates open Sunday at 1p.m. and performances begin around 1:15p.m. Scheduled performers include Coco Montoya, Ruthie Foster, Moreland & Arbuckle, Trampled Underfoot and Selwyn Birchwood.

Admission to the festival and its concerts is free with the option to purchase reserved seating directly in front of the stage. The mouthwatering fare is the perfect complement to the fabulous music that fills the weekend. This year's Sea-Blues Festival runs from Saturday, February 15 through Sunday, February 16.

Gates open on Saturday at 1p.m. Performers slated for this day include award-winning band Vintage Trouble, Blues Hall of Famer Robert Cray, and Billboard's Blues chart toppers Peter Karp and Sue Foley, just to name a few. Gates open Sunday at 1p.m. and performances scheduled for the day headline other big names on the Blues scene including Ana Popovic, Savoy Brown featuring Kim Simmonds and many, many more. General admission to the Sea-Blues Festival is free. Oh yes, we said free. It's lawn seating, so be sure to bring a towel, blanket or chair along with you. Where to Stay During the Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival
There's a lot happening this weekend on the Gulf Coast, so you'll want to make sure you have your accommodations booked at soon as possible. Stay locally on the quiet, secluded shores of Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores and be within close proximity to all of the area events. Clearwater is under a 20-minute drive from our beaches, so it's the best of both worlds.
