What’s the story behind Indian Rocks Beach painted rocks? 

The hide and seek adventure began as a fun way to share a little bit of the beach and surrounding Gulf Coast of Florida with people from all over who are visiting, vacationing or just passing through Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, and beyond. 

There’s an element of surprise, kindness, and a pay-it-forward mentality to the IRB painted treasure rock endeavor—and let’s face it, we all need a little more beach fun in our lives, right? Right!

The idea caught on and now not only can you find painted rocks in Indian Rocks and Indian Shores, but you can also find a lot of people sharing them on social media, too. Where can I find IRB Treasure Rocks?

Here, there and everywhere! IRB painted rocks have been found all over the place including at the beach, around town in Indian Rocks Beach, among the rides at Busch Gardens Tampa, and at your favorite local IRB events. Just be sure to keep your eyes peeled and to look high and low in your everyday adventures. You never know when you’ll stumble upon one. How can I make my own painted rocks? 

Are you suddenly feeling inspired to create your own painted rocks? Check out the DIY Painted Rock Tutorial video below that features tips, tricks and everything you need to know to make your own. They make a great craft project for the kids during your beach vacation or anytime you want to carve out a little creative time and enjoy some down time while you’re at it. 

You don’t need too many supplies other than some soap and hot water to clean up your rocks, acrylic paint, permanent metallic markers and/or oil-based paint pens. You may also want to grab some painter’s tape if you want to create shapes and straight lines. 

It’s a pretty simple and straightforward process where you can create a little masterpiece within minutes. The longest part of the DIY painted rocks project is the drying time that is required to allow your paint to fully dry.
