It seems a little crazy that we’re already talking about October 2017 events, right? Well, October is not that far away and you’ll really want to know all of what’s happening in Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores, Florida, as well as all along the gorgeous Gulf Coast of Florida this fall. There’s lots to love to so hold on to your pumpkin spice latte and let’s take a look at what’s happening around town and on the beaches. You’ll want to have your October calendar nearby to mark down all of these fun and festive autumn events. Are you ready?

 

Scavenger Hunt & Pub Crawl in Indian Rocks BeachPub Crawl

October 7, 2017 

Plumlee Gulf Beach Realty loves sponsoring this event! Arrrrr! Dress in your best pirate garb and invade downtown Indian Rocks Beach this month. Advance registration is open online now for $20 per person or $25 on the day of the crawl or download the registration form and mail it to the address on the form. On crawl day pick up your wristband and registration packet with t-shirt and koozie, between 3p.m. and 6p.m. at Plumlee Realty located at 417 1st Street, Indian Rocks Beach. Visit all the pubs in downtown IRB including Plumlee Registration, JD’s, PJ’s Oyster Bar, Crabby Bill’s, Jimmy Guana’s, Aqua Prime and LuLu’s Oyster Bar. Don’t forget the raffle and 50/50 drawing. For all wanna-be-pirates there is a pirate costume contest and awards party at Crabby Bill’s Loading Dock at 9p.m. (you must be present to win). Visit all the pubs for great drink specials and be entered in the raffle for $350 in gift certificates. Ahoy mateys, this is a 21-and-over event. Oktoberfest at Kolb Park in Indian Rocks Beach

October 14, 2017 

Join us in Kolb Park from 11a.m. to 7p.m. for Oktoberfest on the beach! This fall beach festival combines the best of the season plus features arts and crafts along with other local vendors. There’s live music with Erica DiCeglie Band and MC Mark Ralston. German music happens from 11am-1pm by Vince Demur. There’s all day fun for everyone with festive food and drink, as well as Kinderfest for the wee ones from 11a.m. to 2p.m. In true Oktoberfest style, there are Keg Throwing Contests and Stein Carrying Contests beginning at 2:30p.m. Enjoy grand prize drawings, a silent auction and more. Free admission is offered and everyone is invited, just please leave your pets at home for this event.

The Clearwater Jazz Holiday is a four-day and four-night, world-class, live music festival, enjoyed by over 35,000 people the third week of every October and now in its 38th year. The music festival has evolved from a series of concerts on the back of a flatbed truck and at venues around Clearwater into an annual international music festival that draws tens of thousands of visitors each year to beautiful Coachman Park in Clearwater, against the backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico, warm breezes, brilliant sunsets, and one of the world’s greatest beaches. The festival features a combination of legendary and relevant musical artists and a gathering of an amazingly diverse fan base. International Coastal Clean Up Day in Indian Rocks Beach

October 21, 2017 

In partnership with the Ocean Conservancy, Keep Pinellas Beautiful is coordinating the 2017 International Coastal Cleanup at sites throughout Pinellas County with the help of our dedicated site captains, volunteers, and team members. Through these efforts we hope to eliminate the impact of marine and terrestrial debris within our Pinellas County ecosystems. Please join Keep Pinellas Beautiful and the Indian Rocks Beach Team for a rewarding day of community improvement, engagement, and beautification. Meet up at County Parking Lot between 17th Avenue and 18th Avenue on Gulf Boulevard from 9a.m. to 12 noon. Cleanup supplies are provided, but please remember to bring your own reusable water bottles. There is no need to print a ticket to attend. Just be there. Pinellas County and Indian Rocks Beach thank you in advance for your help!

The Halloween Hoopla happens at Kolb Park from 10a.m. to 1p.m. Enjoy family-friendly fun and festivities including pumpkin carving, face painting, bounce houses, games, petting zoo, pony rides, train rides and oh so much more. Get to know your community better by visiting with the Pinellas Suncoast Fire and Rescue, the Sheriff’s Department and the United States Coast Guard. John’s Pass Seafood Festival in Madeira Beach

October 26-29, 2017 

Experience three days of fabulous Gulf Coast seafood and live music at the John’s Pass Seafood Festival, which is always a celebrated annual event. For 36 years, the community has come together, utilizing hundreds of local volunteers in support of the vision. John’s Pass Seafood Festival is currently the second largest Seafood Festival on the East Coast. As Pinellas County’s premier seafood festival, the John’s Pass Seafood Festival offers a number of unique attributes that benefit Madeira Beach and all of Pinellas County. The festival promotes the positive social and economic impact of the seafood industry in Pinellas County. It helps educate the public about seafood and its importance to the area’s economy. The festival provides substantial publicity to the wide variety of seafood indigenous to Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. Most importantly, the festival gives visitors and the residents of Pinellas County a reason to visit Madeira Beach to have fun and enjoy the bounty of seafood that inhabits our coastal waters, while having a whole lot of fun doing it. The International Folk Fair in St. Petersburg

October 26-29, 2017 

From October 26 to 29, 2017 the St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society, Inc. (SPIFFS) and its ethnic member groups present the 43rd Annual International Folk Fair at Vinoy Park on St. Petersburg’s beautiful waterfront. In addition to ethnic foods and cultural displays, the Folk Fair offers a multitude of special entertainment in the form of dancing, singing and drumming by more than thirty ethnic groups. The first two days (October 26 and 27) are set aside for local schools. On Saturday, October 28 and 29, the general public can enjoy cooking demonstrations, Polynesian dancers plus folk music and dancing from around the world.
