Beach Fails to Absolutely Avoid on Your Vacation

You’ve worked hard for your well-earned vacation time. You don’t want simple lack of planning to interfere with your beach vacation. NOT DOING ADVANCE RESEARCH

You do not want to get to your vacation destination only to learn that the big attractions and family activities you planned to do aren’t available to you. That would be a major bummer! To avoid this, you should try to get to know the area in advance and scope out the attractions and things to do well in advance. Your beach vacation time is limited, so don’t waste too much of it trying to figure out where you want to go and what you want to do each day.

NOT KNOWING YOUR RENTAL DOS & DON’TS

You should have already read over the vacation rental agreement carefully so that you know what to expect upon arrival, including what is included in your stay and what you may need to bring with you. If you have any questions about that, get the answers you need ahead of time—and it will be smooth sailing when you check in. It’s helpful to have someone else read over the rental contract too, so that nothing is overlooked.

NOT REVIEWING WATER SAFETY WITH THE KIDS

A good portion of your beach vacation time is going to be spent near the water. When’s the last time you reviewed water safety with your kids? They probably need a refresher. It’s also a good time to talk about your vacation rules and expectations while traveling, as well as family safety in general. Being proactive is key and sets the stage for a fun, safe, and memorable time for everyone.

NOT USING ENOUGH SUNSCREEN

Last but not least, don’t underestimate the power of the sun, especially when you’re spending large amounts of time on sand and in the water. It’s easy to forget how long you’ve been out there. Reapply that sunscreen, use umbrellas for shade, and bring your sunglasses, hats and coverups. One bad sunburn can ruin a week at the beach real fast, not to mention your skin and your health. Pack that beach bag well!
