We know families come to vacation in Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores first and foremost for the beautiful Gulf of Mexico beaches—which are hidden gems themselves. Beyond the beaches, there are more fun and family-friendly things to do with the kids that you may not know about. That’s what we’re highlighting today. You don’t have to go far from your Indian Rocks Beach vacation rental or Indian Shores condo rental to find some wonderful places for kids and families to enjoy. Here are a few of the best that are right here in town.

HIDDEN GEMS FOR FAMILIES IN INDIAN ROCKS BEACH & INDIAN SHORES, FLORIDA

Indian Rocks Beach Nature Preserve

Take the kids for a short stroll on the boardwalk shaded by lush mangroves that leads to views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The Indian Rocks Beach Nature Preserve is 9.3-acres of wildlife habitat, native vegetation, wetlands with an educational boardwalk and natural park areas. Plan a family picnic, go fishing from the pier, do some bird- watching, and just spend some quiet time in the natural beauty of Florida. Indian Rocks Beach Skate Park

Did you know that Indian Rocks Beach has a skate park? It does! Nestled in at Kolb Park you’ll find a great little place where kids can bring their skateboard, rollerblades, or roller skates and have a dedicated space to let the good times roll. (A $5 permit is required for those ages 17 and under.) Kolb Park also offers a playground, athletic fields, tennis and pickleball courts, basketball court, picnic facilities, and restrooms. Seaside Seabird Sanctuary

The Seaside Seabird Sanctuary is a must-see in Indian Shores, Florida. You can visit for free, but donations are really appreciated. The sanctuary is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and eventual release of sick and injured birds of all kinds. It’s the perfect place to bring kids to learn and observe the local feathered wildlife, and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgable. Smugglers Cove Adventure Golf

What is a beach vacation without a few rounds of mini golf? Smugglers Cove Adventure Golf in Indian Shores offers golf and so much more. This pirate-themed course has waterfalls, caves, and all sorts of interesting scenery to navigate during your game of putt putt. You can feed the live gators here, too! They are open 365 days a year. Dress up in your best pirate garb if you really want to fit in, and bring your family over to the course to play a round or two during your Indian Rocks beach vacation. Map location here. 


Splash Harbour Water Park 

Head on over to the best water park in Indian Rocks Beach! Okay, Splash Harbour is the only water park in IRB, but we love it and your family will, too. From thrilling water slides for the more adventurous to the relaxing lazy river for those who prefer to chill out—there is something for everyone here. There’s a splash zone for kids and a tiki bar for adults, plus casual dining perfect for all ages. All-day and half-day cabana rentals are also available.
