Why the Historic Boathouse is the Best New Indian Rocks Rental

Are you looking for a unique opportunity to experience quintessential Florida beach living as it was 100 years ago? The Incredible History Behind the Indian Rocks Beach Boathouse

Tie your boat right up to the house, which sits on the Intracoastal waterway. Not only is it convenient for boaters and anglers, it’s a historic home like no other and a vacation experience you won’t soon forget.

The Indian Rocks Beach Historic Boathouse was  built circa 1911. It was originally a boathouse and in 1938 was turned into a home. Every room has a balance of historic charm and character while still providing updated comforts of a beach cottage.

The boathouse was built in 1912 by Harry Ulmer (after whom Ulmerton Road received its name) for his boat, the Miss Largo, in 1912. Local lore has it that the structure was also used by liquor running boats during prohibition. Outside, there is a small landing to fish from or tie up a 70 foot boat to. The white sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are only a few steps away, so it’s truly the best of both worlds.

The first floor has a game room with bumper pool table, bedroom with 2 twin beds, “Cappy’s Porch” and a bathroom with a shower, no tub. There is also a small kitchenette area with a sink and refrigerator. The 2nd floor features a full kitchen, living area, library with piano, 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom. Each bedroom on this floor has a queen bed. The bathroom on this floor has a tub, no shower. The 3rd floor is a large dormitory type room with 3 twin beds and space to play. The bathroom on this floor has tub, no shower. Television on each level. TV in 2nd floor living room has full cable.
