Amazing Location! This was hands down one of the best vacations our family has taken. We were close to everything. The house is absolutely amazing. We love to fish and could just walk out the door and throw a line. We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Dolphin, manatee, and various bird sightings were a regular entertainment throughout the day. Prime beach access and fishing off the docks at the house were wonderful. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy such a historic place!

The description of this historic boathouse is fairly accurate as are many of the reviews. We typically stay in well-maintained "newer" properties in Destin but wanted a different experience in a different location- nailed it! The boathouse is is located on the intracoastal waterway just a stones throw from a public beach access. Because it sits feet from busy Gulf Blvd. and has a door on the main floor that only latches with a rod through the handle and is a two floor drop to the water, those with small children should be aware of this when considering to stay here. With that said, you can sense the history in this place. Many of the antiques remain with the house as do books from as far back as the 1800s. If you like history and want to experience a glimpse of life in FL in the early 1900s, the boathouse is a great choice. Just don't complain when you choose to stay here, and you find a little dust, rust, and wear and tear. It's not your cookie cutter high end condo, but it isn't described that way either! Most of us did not watch tv the whole week we were there. The round dolphin puzzle is crazy hard- try it! The enclosed sunroom overlooking the waterway was our main gathering spot throughout the day. Our only suggestions for the owners and Plumlee Realty is to address the occasional plumbing smell that seems to be influenced by the tide, update the bathrooms (especially the second and third floor) to provide ample room to move, and replace/repair some of the furniture (i.e. one of the dining room chairs had several dowels come loose in the legs and almost fell apart with someone sitting in it)/ indoor-outdoor fixtures. Hopefully, the boathouse will be around for a few more years for others to enjoy. It has certainly weathered many storms. If you play piano, be sure to try some of Papa's Songs! If walls could talk, this place would speak volumes!

Thank you for your review. We will take care of the chairs right away and send over the suggestions to the owner. We look forward to welcoming you back to Indian Rocks Beach soon!
Everything was really good. The view of the water was excellent. We had our coffee and watched the dolphins every morning. The only problem was the fishy smell on the first level. Other than that I would recommend it to anyone.

Only issue I had was I wish all the bedrooms had AC, even a window AC unit would have been fine on the 3rd Floor. Just to hot to sleep up there. But other then that, it was great. The People at Plumlee, to the Owners and the Maintenance people everyone was nice and very helpful. Thank You All for a Wonderful Experience.

It was fantastic! The house has its own style unlike anything around. There's was plenty of room for people in our large party. Sunrise on the porch and sunset on the beach; you can't get much better than that. The house is walking distance to the beach. No need to worry about packing lunch or where you're going to park. Just grab what you need and go! The staff was extremely kind and helpful. When we got there the check-in process was easy and the staff were kind to help answer any questions I might have. I would highly recommend the historic Boathouse to any of my friends who are looking to get away and have an amazing time at a quirky house right on the beach. It was a fantastic vacation and I will most likely be booking again.
