Live Music on Florida's Gulf Coast: Spotlight on the Clearwater Jazz Holiday

Clearwater FLLive music and the beach go hand and hand like peanut butter and jelly. Or Penn and Teller. Well, you get the idea. What's a Florida beach vacation without nights out under the stars at tiki bars, jamming the evening away at your favorite beach joint, and strolling around the pier enjoying the sights and sounds of our local musical talent?

No matter the venue, the Gulf Coast of Florida promises you live music on the streets, at our local bars and around our seaside towns.

You may prefer to sit outside, grab a bite to eat, kick back and relax while listening to your favorite tunes. Or maybe you want to take the family to the Sunsets at Pier 60 beach festival at Clearwater Beach and listen to music as you walk the pier, browse the local vendors and catch the street performers. Or perhaps you prefer a night out on the town at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, where you'll find an amazing array of performers in a variety of genres in the performing arts. From Broadway to improv, dance to opera, to country, rock and all that jazz, there's a night out sure to please everyone.

We offer all of this and more on Florida's Gulf Coast from small coastal towns like Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores to bigger cities like Clearwater, Tampa and beyond.

Now that we mentioned jazz, that brings us to what we really want to talk about. We don't mean to blow our own horn here (okay, maybe we do), but did you know that Clearwater, Florida is home to one of the largest international jazz festivals around? Oh yeah, it is.

Think epic names in music like Tony Bennett, Dizzy Gillespie, Spyro Gyra, Herbie Hancock, Kenny G, Bonnie Raitt, The Neville Brothers, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, and Chicagothey are just a few of the many greats, classic to contemporary, that have graced the stage during the Clearwater Jazz Holiday. We promise you, they've all got some chops.

Add to that the backdrop of warm coastal breezes, dazzling Gulf Coast sunsets and sparkling Gulf of Mexico waters, and you have a match made in beach heaven. What's not to love?

The Clearwater Jazz Holiday endClearwater Jazz Holidays October on a high note, as it happens annually the third week of the month. The jazz festival has been going strong for over 30 years now, and we don't see any end in sight. It's evolved from a 10-day series of jazz concerts on the back of a flatbed truck to a 4-day world-class jazz event jam-packed with after-parties, VIP events and solid soulful music. Don't worry, the festival still has kept its crazy cool vibe.

The Clearwater Jazz Holiday offers fours days and four nights of smokin' performances at the open-air venue of Clearwater's Coachman Park. General admission, reserved seating and VIP experience tickets are available.

We are totally jazzed to see Earth, Wind & Fire perform at this year's festival. Who are you excited to see?
