Happy Birthday, Clearwater! Sugar Sand Festival Kicks Off Clearwater's 100th Birthday Bash

You've probably heard the news that there are some pretty big celebrations happening on Florida's Gulf Coast in 2015. Not only does Plumlee Gulf Beach Realty celebrate its 25th Anniversary this summer (July to be exact—stay tuned, more on that later), but the City of Clearwater also has a Centennial Celebration of epic proportions this year.
Turning 100 years old is a pretty big deal, so Clearwater is celebrating in grand Gulf Coast style. Clearwater's birthday dates back to May 27, 1915. A lot has happened in the last hundred years, so there's a plenty to reminisce, commemorate and experience in its honor. Sugar Sand Days & Sunset Nights on Clearwater BeachThe premiere event kicking off the Clearwater Centennial Celebration is the annual Sugar Sand Festival at Pier 60 Park on Clearwater Beach. Named favorite beach in America several times over, Clearwater Beach has a lot to boast about including its pristine, powdery, white, sugary-soft sand and its famed family-friendly events.
The Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival runs from April 17-26 combining tons of sweet sugar sand, 10 master sand sculptors and 10 days to celebrate this perfectly sculpted event. Enjoy concerts on the beach, extended Sunsets at Pier 60 Festival hours, free movies under the stars (and on the sugary sand), live entertainment, fireworks displays, children's activities, and the most amazing artists transforming the Clearwater Beach's sand into stunning works of sculptured art. This is an awesome family event!
Free Family Movies on the Sugar SandIf you don't already know about the Sunset Cinema on Clearwater Beach, you should! It's the perfect family night out any weekend, but especially during the Sugar Sand Festival.

Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival Concert LineupThere are a crazy amount of free concerts on the beach for you to enjoy throughout the Sugar Sand Festival. There's a little something for everyone from reggae and jazz to Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett tribute bands, just to name a few. Go ahead and block out your calendars for the entire festival event! There is so much to see, do and enjoy.

Sandtastic FunEnchanting storyland scenes comes to life at the Sand Walk Exhibit. The master sculptors of Team Sandtastic craft the tented walk through display which covers 21,000 square feet of viewing delight. The Sugar Sand Festival wouldn't be called such without sand sculpting classes, competitions, demonstrations and a giant sand box just for the kids.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students (age 6-17), $7 for seniors, military, police, firefighters and teachers. The wee ones age 5 and under are admitted free.
