Hot Travel Trends for 2015

Personalization & customization matter.

We want what we want. We like what we like. Let’s face it, we like having it our way, and we’re pretty used to it. Travel doesn’t change that. When we take a vacation, we want to incorporate our likes, interests, comforts, needs and wants into where we go and what we do.

Forget cookie-cutter hotel and motel rooms, remember to book a vacation rental instead. You’ll have a so many more options when it comes to size, style, location and amenities. Customizing your stay can only make your vacation that much more enjoyable. Who knows better what you need and want? No one! Choose what is important to you and build your vacation around that.

Technology is big.

With amazing travel apps that give us instant information at our fingertips, software that allows us to pay using our mobile phones, increased wearable technology, and the social media frenzy that is part of our society these days, it’s no surprise that technology is a huge influencer when it comes to vacations and travel.

We’re cutting out as much paperwork, hassle and middle-men as possible and relying more heavily on our beloved mobile devices. They have become our booking agents, our personal assistants, our encyclopedias, our communities and our number one go-to resource for many things in life, and that includes travel.

Return of the road trip.Family Vacation

With gas prices dipping lower than they’ve been a long time, it’s a great opportunity to capitalize on hitting the open road. Road trips are a great family option when it comes to travel.

In addition to being budget-friendly, road trips offer a sense of adventure uniquely their own. You also have a little bit more freedom, a lot more control, and the chance to make some great memories en route to your vacation destination. Long live the road trip!

Health & fitness on the go.

Speaking of technology, health and fitness are pretty important to us. Devices like FitBit, the availability of free health and fitness apps, and the syncing of many apps and devices into one primary source like Apple Health, the bar has been raised pretty high when it comes to tracking and monitoring fitness on the go.

Did you know that almost half of smartphone users log in to a fitness app on a daily basis? They do! Health and fitness are a big part of home life, and with the advances in technology, they’re part of travel and vacation life, too. If they help to motivate us all toward a more healthy and active lifestyle, then why not? You might as well track the extra calories you’re burning as you walk the beach, right?

Hanging with the locals.

Making local connections is becoming more and more desired by travelers and vacationers. There’s a respect for local knowledge and high regard for an insider’s take on what’s hot and what’s not. Building connections and building relationships with those who know the area best can only enhance your vacation. We highly recommend it. Whether it’s through the use of networking and social media apps or good old fashioned face-to-face conversation, locals are your best resource for learning more about the area you’re visiting.

Celebration vacations.

Vacations often times have a purpose that extends beyond just time away or a break from routine. It’s pretty common these days to plan a trip in celebration of a retirement, anniversary, soon-coming baby, birthday or some other big milestone in life.

What better gift is there than the gift of travel? It’s the gift that keeps on giving in the form of quality time spent together, memories made that last a lifetime, and the sharing of new adventures. Consider planning a celebration vacation this year!
