Indian Rocks Beach Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony & More This Week on Florida’s Gulf Coast

Do you have a well worn American flag that has fully served its patriotic purpose and now needs an honorable and respectful retirement? This Friday, June 13 at noon, the City of Indian Rocks Beach holds its annual Flag Retirement Ceremony at Chic-A-See Park next to the IRB Historical Museum on 4th Avenue. Bring your flags to Indian Rocks Beach City Hall on Bay Palm Boulevard and they will be laid to rest with dignity during the ceremony. Stay after for a complimentary lunch which follows the flag retirement program.

You may also want to head down to Madeira Beach this week for the 4th Annual Bone Fishing Slam & Baddest BBQ on the Bone Contest, which runs Thursday, June 12 through Saturday, June 14 at Rex Place located at the Madeira Beach Recreational Field.

The Bone Fishing Slam tournament has low entry fees. It is a rodeo-style tournament with inshore and offshore divisions.

The Baddest BBQ on the Bone Contest venue is free. Enjoy tasting Southern barbecue from over 50 competitive teams vying for the Grand Champion ribbon and the coveted title of Baddest BBQ on the Bone. This family-friendly event also offers arts and crafts vendors, marine and outdoor vendors, a live music concert on Friday night, a huge kids zone, and let’s not forget the pig races! Parking is also free.
