Holiday Lights in the Gardens, Indian Rocks Beach Citywide Garage Sale & More on the Gulf Coast

It’s the week of Thanksgiving and we’re all looking forward to spending some quality time with family and friends, sharing a delicious meal, and reflecting on all of the things we’re thankful for this year. It’s also a long weekend for many of us, so the extra time off and the opportunity to relax are on the agenda this weekend as well.

We’d like to offer you a few more suggestions to your holiday agenda if you’re looking for some things to do with family and friends once Thanksgiving Day has passed. There are always plenty of opportunities to go shopping in the area, if that’s how you’d like to spend your weekend. If not, we have some other ideas for you, too.

The Florida Botanical Gardens, located in Largo, kicks off its Holiday Lights in the Gardens this Friday, November 29 and continues through Wednesday, January 1. Get the family together and spend a night Holiday Lights in the Gardensenjoying the sights and sounds of the holiday season in a setting like no other. Holiday Lights in the Gardens runs each evening from 5:30-9:30p.m. Each year this Pinellas County tradition brings a bigger and better display to its guests. This year, the 30-acre gardens twinkle with over 750,000 lights.

In addition to laser lights, flora and fauna displays and decorated trees, a seven-foot gingerbread house with more than 600 lights, a 30-foot tall white swan and a five-foot tropical parrot have been added to the tradition array of light-lined paths with nightly free entertainment and visits from Santa Claus. Each night brings additional live entertainment for guests to enjoy. You can find a schedule of performers here.

Food and beverages are available for purchase during the event and free parking is available. A suggested donation of $2 per person is requested; children 12 and under are admitted free. Other special events happening during the holiday season at the Florida Botanical Gardens are the Gift and Plant Sale in the Gardens on December 8 from 10a.m. to 4p.m. and the Dog Parade on December 29 at 1p.m.

Also occurring this Thanksgiving weekend is the Indian Rocks Beach Citywide Garage Sale. Two times a year, the residents of Indian Rocks Beach offer up pre-loved treasures and great bargains during their citywide garage sale event. Cruise the streets and keep an eye out for one-of-a-kind treasures along with some really great deals. For more information, contact the City of Indian Rocks Beach.
